Country superstar Luke Bryan and his wife Caroline are thanking fans for their support after the loss of their young niece on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The daughter of Bo (Caroline’s brother) and Ellen Boyer, infant Sadie Brett (also known as Brett) passed away after battling an infection in her liver and heart issues.

Very little is known about the little girl, but her mother Ellen posted to Facebook and revealed that she had been battling internal issues with rounds of dialysis, among other treatments. On Feb. 19, Ellen posted an update to Facebook, revealing that they were trying a new round of antibiotics.

“Brett seems to have an infection of some sort. The team is leaning toward blood infection/sepsis. Her blood pressures and her temp have been really low today and got pretty scary low around 3,” she wrote. “She is on several antibiotics so our prayer is that they will be the correct ones to treat this infection.”

With news of Sadie Brett’s untimely death spreading, Bryan took to Twitter to thank fans for their prayers over his niece.

“We thank all of you for your prayers. Love y’all,” he simply wrote.

Bryan fans have been involved in the little girl’s story for the past several months, as the Georgia native has been sharing her story and asking for prayers through his official app. Just two months ago, he revealed that she was being treated at Vanderbilt in Nashville.

This isn’t the first time Luke and his family has had to face tragedy head on. In 1996, his brother died in a traffic collision, and in 2007, his sister lost her life suddenly at age 39. Years later, in December 2014, his late sister’s husband also passed away, leaving him and Caroline the guardians for the couple’s son.
