Luke Bryan Debuts Sexy New Single, ‘Light It Up’
Luke Bryan is giving us a taste of his upcoming sixth studio album with the release of his new single, “Light It Up.” The track, which debuted on iHeartRadio Wednesday morning (Aug. 23), was co-written by the Georgia native with the help of Old Dominion’s Brad Tursi.
“You want to hear the most ironic thing about the song? Brad and I had never written,” Bryan told the Bobby Bones Show. “Caroline and I, we had built our house, just built, built, built. Never thought it was going to get done, never thought it was going to get done. I built a music room, put a piano, got my guitars in there. First writing appointment in my writing room was this song.”
The writing session resulted in “Light It Up,” with Bryan crooning the words “I get so neurotic about it baby / ‘Cause I know you’re reading your phone / I can’t help from going crazy / Thinking you might not be all alone / I wake up, I check it / I shower and I check it / I feel the buzz in my truck / And I almost wreck it / I always got it on me / Just in case you want me / So, if you’re looking for my love / Then light it up.”
Bryan credits Tursi for coming up with the line ‘I get so neurotic,’ which gave them a launching pad for the rest of the tune.
“Brad had the ‘I get so neurotic…’ and I was like well I’ve never heard neurotic in a country song. It’s funny because when we’re recording it, people asked me ‘you think that word needs to stay?’ And I’m like ‘I don’t know. It’s an interesting word,’” he explained with a laugh.
“Light It Up” is the lead single from Bryan’s upcoming album, which he teased is set to release “after Thanksgiving, but before Christmas.”
