It was a stellar moment for all as Luke Bryan and Jason Derulo were awarded the honor of the 2017 CMT Performance of the Year at the CMT Music Awards.

The duo claimed the accolade thanks to their energetic performance, “Want to Want Me” from CMT Crossroads.

“I was drinking with them at 8 AM by the way and they’re still going,” Bryan says in reference to award presenters Hoda Kotb and Kathie Lee Gifford who multi-tasked by presenting with a glass of wine in their hands.

Derulo showed his appreciation to Music City upon accepting his award.

“I’m shocked to see you here man, I didn’t know if you was going to make it,” he commented to his co-collaborator Bryan. “Thank y’all so much, it’s been an amazing time. I’ve spent a couple days here in Nashville and the support here has just been incredible so thank you to the country music fans and I am so appreciative. It’s been an incredible ride and a big thanks to my boy Luke, we had an incredible time doing the Crossroads and I just appreciate it all.

In addition to this honor, Bryan is also nominated for Male Video of the Year and Video of the Year, both for “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”

“Thank you guys, when we did Crossroads I remember thinking what an unbelievable time to be up there with such a great guy such a great singer and entertainer,” Bryan concluded. “Thank you guys for making it happen for us and welcome to Nashville buddy.”

The list of nominees in the category included huge live showings including Jason Aldean with “Hicktown (From CMT Concert of the Summer),” Luke Bryan and Jason Derulo with “Want to Want Me (From CMT Crossroads),” Darius Rucker and John Mellencamp with “Pink Houses (From CMT Crossroads),” Maren Morris and Alicia Keys with “80s Mercedes (From CMT Crossroads),” Kelsea Ballerini, Meghan Trainor and Jill Scott with “A Tribute to Shania Twain (From CMT Artists of the Year)” and Thomas Rhett and Nick Jonas featuring Danielle Bradbery with “Close (From CMT Crossroads).”
