Doing everything in his power to forget about his past love, Luke Combs still holds on to that desperate call just in case there’s still a spark in his new single, “One Number Away.”

The singer covers up his emotional breakdown over a breakup by way of claiming that his ex-girlfriend would probably be drowning out the sorrows in music or smoking a random cigarette while driving about town. But Combs admits to the same woes, lingering on the heartaching idea to reach out just one more time even though he swore he’d never go back to her.

“I’m one number away from calling you / said I was through / but I’m dying inside / got my head in a mess / girl, I confess / I lied when I said I’m leaving and not coming back,” Combs sings, blaming his excuses on the misery of a broken heart and still hoping for a shot at love again after breaking things off.

Hoping to land his third chart-topping hit, Combs previously gave a shoutout to country radio for constantly having his back whenever he brings a new single out to the listeners. Thanks to their dedicated support, Combs has earned himself a whirlwind year of success and hopes to continue on that same page heading into 2018.

“Huge thanks to country radio as well for believing in the music and me – without you guys this just doesn’t happen,” he said while accepting his second. No. 1 accomplishment.

The song follows up as Combs’ third single to country radio, with “Hurricane” and “When It Rains It Pours” making their way to the No. 1 position on the charts after major airplay and meteoric response from fans.

“One Number Away” can be found on Combs’ debut release, This One’s For You, which is available now.
