Luke Combs Doesn’t Have Good Luck on Lottery Scratch-Offs
Although the country singer doesn’t participate in gambling very often due to his losing streak with the cards, he still follows his family’s tradition of picking up a few scratch-and-wins every holiday season to see if he can earn some extra cash on the side.
Luke Combs may have hit the jackpot when he landed a career in country music, but his luck doesn’t really run too far as he’s never been a big winner on lottery scratch-offs.
Although the country singer doesn’t participate in gambling very often due to his losing streak with the cards, he still follows his family’s tradition of picking up a few scratch-and-wins every holiday season to see if he can earn some extra cash on the side. The tradition goes so deep that Combs even included the story within the lyrics of his latest single, “When It Rains It Pours.”
“The last time I bought a scratch off, gosh its probably been…. I do it every Christmas. That’s always been our tradition. We always put it in each other’s stockings. I always win but I never make any money. My dad will buy 10 dollar scratch offs and then I’ll win two dollars or something. I’m not a huge gambler per say. I’m not a mega huge risk taker. But that was probably the last thing I won was probably a dollar on a scratch off ticket. I wish I won one hundred dollars on a scratch off ticket, that would be nice. But the guy in the song does so that’s okay.”
Nevertheless, Combs appreciates the effort he and his loved ones put in toward their random wagers in the lotto category. He’ll never lose faith that he may one day end up a millionaire thanks to the small text on a paper card, but he’s not one to make a habit out of it.
Thankfully, Combs doesn’t have to worry too much about his side hustle though, as his debut single “Hurricane” went No. 1 on the country charts with his new track rising up the list week by week.
