"I love that song and we kinda sat down and wanted to write a kinda Brad Paisley type tune and I think we nailed it," Combs explains.

If you’re feeling down, go and pick up a scratch off ticket from your local gas station as it just might change your life… at least it did for Luke Combs in his new music video.

After hosting a raging party that left his house in shambles and his girlfriend walking out the door, the North Carolina native decided to test his luck and the effects only snowballed from there. Showcased in the latest clip for “When It Rains It Pours,” the tongue-in-cheek tune shows how when something bad happens, it doesn’t always stay bad.

“I love that song and we kinda sat down and wanted to write a kinda Brad Paisley type tune and I think we nailed it. People are loving it so far… it’s a good little tune,” said Combs of the song he wrote with Jordan Walker and Ray Fulcher at a recent press event.

The video was shot in Charleston, South Carolina when Combs was taking a couple days off to celebrate the Fourth of July.

“It was about two days about 8:00 a.m. and then going to bed at 10:00 p.m. every night and a bunch of different locations and outfits and stuff. It just follows along right with the song,” recalled the singer.

The result of those long days comes in the form of the final music video, which follows the song’s story line to a tee, from fishing in Panama to hitting the links for a round of golf.

While the main character in his single may be living the good life from his lucky lottery ticket, Combs doesn’t often see the same result when he looks to buy a ticket in real life.

“The last time I bought a scratch off, gosh its probably been…. I do it every Christmas. That’s always been our tradition. We always put it in each other’s stockings,” he shared. “I always win but I never make any money. My dad will buy 10 dollar scratch offs and then I’ll win two dollars or something. I’m not a huge gambler per say. I’m not a mega huge risk taker. But that was probably the last thing I won was probably a dollar on a scratch off ticket. I wish I won one hundred dollars on a scratch off ticket, that would be nice. But the guy in the song does so that’s okay.”

“When It Rains It Pours” is the second single from Combs’ debut album This One’s For You, following his multi-week No.1 smash “Hurricane.”
