Nine-time CMA Musician of the Year Mac McAnally is on the up and up after suffering a heart attack last Monday (Nov. 13). According to his publicist, Elaine Schock, McAnally is home from the hospital and recovering nicely.

“He’s actually doing great,” Schock of Shock Ink told the Daily Journal during a phone interview. “They released him from the hospital and he’s going to be back to work really soon.”

The health setback prevented the musician from performing at Sunday night’s (Nov. 19) hurricane benefit concert in Tallahassee, FL with Jimmy Buffett, Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith and Jake Owen. Buffett took to his Facebook to extend his well-wishes to his longtime friend and Coral Reefer bandmate as he recovers.

“OK, by now, most folks have heard about Mac’s heart attack, which was a little more serious than a Big Mac attack. He is fine now and stable and should leave the hospital tomorrow, which is great news for all of us. Sadly he will not make the hurricane benefit this Sunday in Tallahassee…,” he wrote in part.

McAnally recently earned his ninth Musician of the Year trophy at the 51st annual CMA Awards on Nov. 8. He is currently tied with Chet Akins for the number of wins.
