Maren Morris has an impressive solo career (including her No. 1 single “I Could Use a Love Song”), but some of her more recent releases have come in the form of collaborations, including “The Middle” with Zedd and “Seeing Blind” with Niall Horan. And as she readies her sophomore album–the followup to 2016’s Hero–Morris has found herself taking inspiration from those pop counterparts.

When asked about the new project’s vibe, Morris told Brazil-based publication, Keeping Track, “I think it’s going to be slightly more pop and soulful than Hero, but not as pop as Zedd’s song [‘The Middle’]. So the definitive answer is that it will be a bit like Hero,” she said. “The pop sound is probably going to be more interesting at this stage, but the country will still prevail.”

Now Morris is hopeful to bring in some of music’s biggest names for new collaborations. When prompted by the interviewer about a hope that Morris and Carrie Underwood might one day work together, Morris quickly confessed to pitching a song to the superstar.

“I wrote to Carrie a few weeks ago [hoping] that we could do something together,” she said. “So, [maybe there will be] a collaboration one day.”

As well as Underwood, Morris was able to list off several other acts she’d love to partner up with in the studio.

“I’d love to work with Ed Sheeran because he’s just so sentimental and composes all of his songs, so as a songwriter [with] my repertoire I feel like [it’d be] a good fit,” she said. “Bruno Mars, too.”

For now, Morris will continue her run opening for Horan’s “Flicker World Tour” until the end of the year.

Morris took to Twitter to clarify her comments, writing “I LOVE Carrie! However, I think there was something lost in translation with this Billboard Brazil interview I did. What I actually said was we wrote together years ago and the interviewer asked if we’d collaborate one day and I replied ‘Maybe someday! That’d be amazing.'”

Additionally, the Texas native shared the news that she will have two features on her upcoming record, though she did not namedrop the surprise guests.
