“Dear love/just when I think you’ve given up… I hear you every morning/through the chaos and the noise,” sings Morris.

As gloom sweeps the nation after the deadliest mass shooting in modern United States history, Maren Morris is stepping up to share a message of love and hopefulness with the song “Dear Hate.”

Written by Morris, Tom Douglas and David Hodges, the Texas native sings with Vince Gill about the devastating effects of hatred and overcoming it with love. Morris shared the heart-wrenching ballad in a Facebook post, pledging that any money raised from the song will be donated to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting.

“I wrote this song 3 years ago, recorded it last year with Vince Gill, and always have fans asking when I’ll put it out. I never knew when would be the right time, but I realized today that there’s never a right time,” she wrote. “Hate is everywhere, and I’m sick of not doing enough. In the darkest tunnel, there is still love & music. That’s what it’s here for. Here is Dear Hate. Any cent I see from this I’m donating to the Music City Cares Fund.”

Like in the song, Morris closed her post with the phrase, “Love’s Gonna Conquer All.”

Morris, who performed at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on Saturday (Sept. 30), previously shared the song after another mass shooting that occurred in July of 2016. Five Dallas police officers were gunned down in the line of duty and seven others injured by a lone gunman at a peaceful protest. In a standoff, the attacker allegedly told authorities “he was upset about the recent police shootings” and “said he wanted to kill white people, especially white officers” (quotes via The Washington Post)
