Maren Morris came blazing onto the country music scene when she dropped her single “My Church” and critically-acclaimed debut album HERO. She’s since gone on to nab numerous awards nominations, and even some wins, including her very first GRAMMY award. Now, Morris has her sights set on the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards, where she is one of the top nominees with six nominations to her name, tying Miranda Lambert and trailing Keith Urban by one.

“Going to the ACM Awards as one of the most nominated artists is definitely crazy because I feel like I am sort of sitting in this class of legendary artists like Miranda and Keith Urban and Carrie (Underwood). So to be nominated for my album that many times it’s so incredible and I feel really humbled,” Morris said. “I’ve looked up to these artists my whole life and to be in the ranks of them for this award show, it’s just going to be an amazing night and I can’t wait to perform. I’m just kind of excited to go and sit in the audience and watch the show as a fan.”

Morris will watch the show as a winner, too, as she has already won the award for ACM New Female Vocalist, edging out Cam, Lauren Alaina and Brandy Clark for the win.

“When I found out that I won ACM New Female Vocalist Of The Year, I was definitely shocked,” she explained. “Just being nominated at all is a huge accomplishment, and so when I found out that I won, I was so overwhelmed…in such a good way. I remember going to the ACMs last year, and it was my first ever awards show to go to, and get dressed up for, and I never thought a year later I would be sitting in the audience and be nominated. So, to be going, and to already be a winner is so amazing, and I was so proud of my friends Jon Pardi and Brothers Osborne for winning their first ACMs as well, so it’s cool to be a part of this new class of artists.”

While the Texas native is already a winner, she’ll soon find out if any other trophies will sit on her mantle when the winners are revealed on Sunday April 2. Currently, she is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year and has double nominations (as artist and producer) in Album of the Year for HERO and Single of the Year for “My Church.”

The 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards will broadcast live from the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 2 (live 8:00-11:00 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network.
