When casting the roles for Maren Morris’ upcoming music video, she looked to none other than her fiancé to play the heroic cowboy.

Basing the track off Western vibes, Morris convinced her husband with the spousal privilege that he should probably of the leading parts in the treatment. Despite learning that his character would get tied up in some drunken antics and dragged around the tumbleweed town, Morris pulled the marriage card and that immediately changed Ryan Hurd’s mind once he realized he wanted to do something nice for the love of his life.

“Ryan looks really good in it. Ryan looks better than I do in it. Yeah, so it’s a Western,” Morris said to Sounds Like Nashville and other media recently. “I think a lot of people were thinking we would go super Vegas-y with it but I think we just wanted to do something unexpected and Ryan has never been in a video of mine, so I was like, ‘We’re getting married in a month. I think you owe me this,’ and so, he’s the cowboy in it and it was the most fun, easy shoot I’ve ever done.”

Not only did Hurd put on his cowboy hat for the filming, but Morris also dragged her touring and management team along for the fun as well. Locking in TK McKamy as the director, Morris can’t wait to get fans’ reactions over the story and hopes they dive into the throwback world they invented on set.

“I kind of conquered my fear of horses. I have a very nice horse,” she explained. “It’s the last single from the record and we get to do this crazy badass Western video for it. TK McKamy, who did the ‘Craving You’ video, directed ‘Rich,’ so he just had such a great treatment for it and he’s a badass himself. So, it’s going to be really cool and should be out, we’re not going to have to wait too long for all of it… it’s very funny and doesn’t take itself too seriously, which is the meaning of ‘Rich.'”

“Rich” is Morris’ current single at country radio.
