Martina McBride’s Father-in-Law Passes Away
McBride honored the loss of her father-in-law with a touching post on Instagram.
Our thoughts and condolences are with Martina McBride and her family during this hard time as they lost her father-in-law on December 30, 2016.
Her father-in-law, John McBride, was a professor for the majority of his professional career, known in his obituary as a beloved educator in the departments he worked in for Wichita State University. He also was an avid lover of music, much like his daughter-in-law as well as his son, John McBride, who is a well-known studio producer.
Married to his wife and McBride’s mother-in-law, Flavia, for 59 years before her passing in 2014, the country singer remembered the elder John McBride in a touching post on Instagram.

“I’ve had more great meals and great memories around this table than I can count. My mother-in-law was a fantastic cook and an amazing hostess and right beside her for 59 years was her husband John. They were two of the best people I have ever known. She left us 2 years ago and we have said our goodbyes to them both now. I’m just happy that they are together again. #wichita #family #johnandflavia,” she captioned the photo of the sweet yet quaint dining table.
A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, January 7, and in lieu of flowers or gifts, the family asked guests to make donations to WSU’s Flavia and John McBride Wichita State University Heskett Center of Education Fund. The organization helps train local lifeguards and gives swimming lessons to teach adults how to swim.
