Martina McBride’s Healthy Meals Changed Husband’s Eating Habits

Although he may have been hesitant about the diet change in the past, McBride encourages a well-balanced plate thanks to practicing those fresh recipes as much as she can when she has time to relax at home.

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.

Martina McBride knows a thing or two when it comes to cooking in the kitchen, but she’s gotten on the health food kick recently and her husband is along for the ride. Although he may have been hesitant about the diet change in the past, McBride encourages a well-balanced plate thanks to practicing those fresh recipes as much as she can when she has time to relax at home.

“Less than a year ago, a meal like this would have been something to be tolerated and ‘gotten through’ but never enjoyed,” she wrote on Instagram with a photo of their delectable dinner. “Tonight he ate every bit of his salmon and part of mine…and all the other healthy food on his plate…and he ENJOYED it and it satisfied him and he kept saying how delicious it was. Anyone who has known him knows this is B.I.G. And I’m happy he’s turned the corner.”

I don’t know why we like to post pictures of our food. Maybe to encourage ourselves or others. Or maybe just because we like sharing that part of our lives. I know I love posting pictures of something decadent as much as I love posting pics of something healthy…because I believe there is room for both in life and it should be a balance. I’m posting this pic for a few reasons. One….because it is my first really healthy meal after a whole weekend of decadence and I’m proud of it. Two because I’ve never really cooked much fish and I’ve always been somewhat intimidated by cooking it…but I made this super delicious salmon in less than 20 minutes with just a few ingredients. And three because my husband has gone through a lifestyle change when it comes to eating that I might never have believed. 2 years ago he would never have eaten this salmon. Less than a year ago a meal like this would have been something to be tolerated and “gotten through” but never enjoyed. Tonight he ate every bit of his salmon and part of mine…and all the other healthy food on his plate…and he ENJOYED it and it satisfied him and he kept saying how delicious it was. Anyone who has known him knows this is B.I.G. And I’m happy he’s turned the corner. And if he can do it anyone can do it. So maybe this will inspire someone to stick with it. The country singer keeps a few hints in mind as well when it comes to the change in both her and her partner’s eating habits in order to keep them motivated toward staying in shape and making health a priority. Taking pictures helps McBride visualize the progress she and her husband are making with the small switches in their diets.

The singer is known for her prowess in the kitchen, having released a cookbook, Around the Table: Recipes and Inspiration for Gatherings Throughout the Year, back in 2014. The collection features many of McBride’s own family recipes, while also giving tips on how to host the perfect party.

McBride is set to hit the road all throughout the summer playing at fairs and various venues across the country.
