Michael Ray, whose legal name is Michael Ray Roach, was arrested early Wednesday morning (Dec. 20) outside of a McDonald’s location in his hometown of Eustis, Florida for DUI and marijuana possession charges, according to police.

The country singer got himself into a fender bender at 4 a.m. EST at the Florida fast-food restaurant, in which a report posted through the Orlando Sentinel read, “Michael said he was in the drive thru and his foot slipped off the pedal causing him to hit the back of the,” Toyota Scion directly in front of his 2012 orange Jeep.

Upon arrival and investigation, police reports from an officer concluded that “While speaking to Michael I noticed he had blood shot eyes, slurred speech, he stumbled while walking and smelled of alcohol.” Ray admitted, as documented in the report, that he was just coming from a bar in the local area.

After conducting a handful of sobriety tests, Ray did not pass under his circumstances and allegedly did not agree to taking a breathalyzer test at the scene. He reportedly told the officer that the contents within a mysterious bottle of brown liquid happened to be “weed oil,” which qualifies as possession of marijuana.

Currently, Ray is being held in the Lake County Jail with a bail of $6,000.

Ray made it big in country music with his hit, “Kiss You in the Morning,” and his No. 1 “Think a Little Less.” He’s been blowing up throughout the year, with opening spots on major tours and radio airplay on stations across the country.
