Country singer Mickey Gilley and his son Mike are recovering after being involved in an automobile accident near Lufkin, TX on Wednesday morning (Jan. 3), KENS 5 reports.

According to a close family member, Jerry Cox, the men were driving when a vehicle pulled out in front of them. The outlet reports that Gilley’s car flipped four times at the time of the accident.

KENS 5 also reports that Gilley suffered a broken shoulder and ankle, while his son endured bruises. Both men are expected to be okay and are currently recovering from the accident.

Mickey Gilley, cousin of rock and roll singer Jerry Lee Lewis, began his career in the 1950s and 60s. He was put on the national radar when his song “Room Full of Roses” was picked up by Playboy Records and topped the country radio charts. Several of his other hits include “Chains of Love” (1977), “Honky Tonk Memories” (1977), “She’s Pulling Me Back Again” (1977), and “Here Comes the Hurt Again” (1978).

In order to keep up with the country-pop crossover era in the 1980s, Gilley worked to release music that would appeal to a larger audience, with a recording landing on the soundtrack of the movie Urban Cowboy.

Throughout his recording career, Gilley earned 17 No.1 country songs and won multiple Academy of Country Music Awards.
