Throughout all of the seasons of NBC’s The Voice, Blake Shelton has never had any country competition against him as a coach. But this time around, pop singer Miley Cyrus is taking a spin on things by overshadowing Shelton with her native Tennessee roots.

Many people forget that Cyrus’ connection to country music is deeper than one would assume; she was born in the South to country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and given the blessings from her famous godmother, Dolly Parton. For an artist that has been proclaimed as pop throughout her entire career, it’s an unexpected twist that Shelton has to ready himself for during this new season of the hit reality singing competition show.

In a new promo clip, Cyrus is seen trying to make some friendly competition with the “Came Here to Forget” singer by throwing petty jabs his way during the auditions. With definite country acts lined up to take the stage, it’s known that Shelton will now have to fight for his reign as the country coach in town. Cyrus, though, doesn’t show any signs of backing down.

“I want to get him [Shelton]. I want him to know you got another country gal on the scene and I’m, like, ready to steal his good country,” she says in the clip, luring away a contestant.

The teasing and taunting ensues throughout the new promo clip, highlighting Cyrus as a new part of the coaching staff with fellow stars Adam Levine and Alicia Keys getting thrown into the mix as well. Thankfully though, there’s no bad blood between all of the artists as they set down the law for finding the best team members they can get their hands on for the season.

The new season of The Voice premieres on September 19th on NBC.
