Whether or not her fans realize it, Miley Cyrus is practically Country royalty thanks to her connection to the queen of Country, Dolly Parton.

The pop singer may be more known for her catchy hits or her many fashion risks over the past few years, but Parton has watched over Cyrus since before she could toddle along. Her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, asked Parton to be a part of their family forever by honoring her with the title of Godmother and she gladly accepted. Even as Cyrus has grown up, she still looks up to the country legend for her sense of style and her humbled personality.

“Having access to her closet! Ha. Seriously, watching the way she treats people with love and respect. Always a reminder to me and my family of what is important. Never let success change your heart,” Cyrus admitted to Cosmopolitan during her cover shoot interview.

Cyrus’ Nashville roots come forth even more so whenever she knocks heads with Blake Shelton on NBC’s The Voice. Having a mutual love of Music City while sharing the downhome hospitality of being Southern gems, Cyrus and Shelton end up getting along just fine. But it’s coach Alicia Keys that Cyrus would choose if she were ever auditioning for the singing competition show.

“She’s always made me feel super loved and special,” Cyrus gushed of Keys. “I loved spending time in my big red chair next to my sis!”

Cyrus is said to be following in the footsteps of Parton and her father with a more country sound in her new music, which will be released soon.
