On Monday, six-time consecutive CMA and seven-time consecutive ACM Female Vocalist of the Year Miranda Lambert gave fans what they’ve been waiting for: their first taste of new music since her much-publicized divorce from Blake Shelton.

Her brand new song, “Vice,” did not disappoint. It immediately shot to the top of the iTunes all-genre singles chart and was played countless times on Country radio stations across the country. The song, which was co-written by Lambert with Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, is the lead single from her upcoming album and is one that is very personal to the Texas native.

“I just hope that everybody that hears it can kind of feel like they’re not on an island. That we all have things in our life that aren’t necessarily pleasant to talk about, but this song is just as honest as you can get about emotions and letting raw emotions just live where they live until you move on to a happier place,” the Texas native said in a video posted to Facebook shortly after the song’s premiere.

“It’s kind of the cycle of life. We can’t all be sunshine and roses every day and sometimes when we’re not, we find things that make us feel better at the moment and that’s what a vice is,” she continued. “I think when you go through something in your life that’s hard, you learn what you run to and what you run from and sometimes, that comes full circle. It’s a very clear image of somebody that’s willing to just lay it all out there and be honest. No one’s heard music from me in awhile and it just  felt like the perfect song to lead off with because it’s just me being who I am.”

This afternoon, Lambert, took to Instagram to share a message with fans and to thank them for their support of the song.

“The last year of my life has been one of heartache and healing, … Of learning to be honest …. Accepting the flaws and celebrating the smiles. Finding peace in dark places … having some moments alone with me. Facing fears and feelings… All of them,” she wrote, along with a screen shot of the iTunes chart, showing “Vice” sitting at the top. “I got to know my guitars…became friends with a pencil and paper … Used melodies to lead me places I had never been…. Made music with my friends. Because music is medicine. This means the world to me. Thank you for joining me on this journey.”
