Miranda Lambert is taking a stand for women in country radio after dedicating her powerful ballad “Tin Man” to the female country artists struggling to earn a spot on the radio airwaves.

Over the weekend, Lambert’s Highway Vagabond Tour rolled through her home state of Texas for a two-night stop at the Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels, TX. It was during her Friday night show (Aug. 4) that she decided to stand-up for the ladies who struggle for their voices to be heard.

“I’m gonna do one by myself, because I can,” Lambert told the crowd in a video captured by a fan on Twitter. “I want to do this on behalf of all the girls that are not being played on country radio right now. If you really love us, you will call and request any female that has a song out and something to say. This is one of those called ‘Tin Man.’”

The conversation about women in country radio has been a long battle that boiled over when radio programmer Keith Hill declared that women are the tomatoes in the salad of country men, aka Tomatogate.

Lambert, who recently took home Album of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards for her two-disc project The Weight of These Wings, has struggled at radio with “Tin Man,” which peaked at No.34 on radio. Currently, only two solo female acts sit within the Top 20 at radio: Carly Pearce with “Every Little Thing” and Maren Morris with “I Could Use A Love Song.”

Watch as Miranda Lambert sings “Tin Man” for the country women everywhere in the video above. Lambert’s Highway Vagabond Tour wraps it’s U.S. run with a two-night stop in Morrison, CO at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre, before she heads across the pond for a string of dates in Europe.
