Miranda Lambert: Working with Pistol Annies ‘Takes Some of the Pressure Off Me’

Miranda Lambert is one busy lady and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. With a new single on the radio and a killer tour with Dierks Bentley, Lambert has a lot on her plate, but she is still devoted to her girl group, Pistol Annies.

Pistol Annies debut album hit No.1 on the Billboard Country chart, and expectations are high for their second album. Lambert recently told LancasterOnline about working on the Pistol Annies album, as well as her own songs. “Angaleena [Presley], Ashley [Monroe], and I have been writing since “Hell on Heels” came out in 2011, and we really kicked it into high gear this past fall.”

Miranda told the publication that she enjoys working with the group because it allows her to step outside her comfort zone as a solo artist. “I love sharing the stage with my two talented, lovely friends, Ashley and Angaleena. It takes some of the pressure off me! They are amazing singer-songwriters, and when we get together, we always have a good time and create pretty original art. Our songs express things that most women think but just won’t say. It’s kind of a different vibe from my solo music, so it is great being able to be adventurous and to get Ashley and Angaleena’s voices heard.”

Fans can expect new Pistol Annies music later this year. “[We] just finished recording our second album, so definitely look for it in 2013.”
