And then there were 12…

NBC’s The Voice said goodbye to half if its contestants when its Top 24 became a Top 12. The top two contestants from each team automatically advanced to the next round of Live Playoffs, airing next week. Coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell each had the opportunity to save one more contestant on their team and send them through to next week.

At the start of the night, Team Blake consisted of Mary Sarah, Adam Wakefield, Justin Whisnant, Paxton Ingram, Joe Maye and Katie Basden. The hopefuls took to the stage to sing “Hey Brother” by Avicii. Following the group performance, host Carson Daly revealed that Mary Sarah and Adam Wakefield would both move on to the next round.

With four contestants remaining, Shelton had the tough task of picking one more to stay.

“There’s something so different and special about each one of you,” he told them. He then decided that Paxton Ingram was the right person to round out his team, sending Justin Whisnant, Joe Maye and Katie Basden home.

The standings for each team are as follows:

Team Blake: Mary Sarah, Adam Wakefield and Paxton Ingram

Team Pharrell: Hannah Huston, Daniel Passino and Emily Keener

Team Adam: Shalyah Fearing, Laith Al-Saadi and Owen Danoff

Team Christina: Alisan Porter, Nick Hagelin and Bryan Bautista
