Get your hopes up high, #Nashies! It looks like Nashville may have a bright future ahead of itself soon!

Immediately after the surprise cancellation of ABC’s hit country drama series, Lionsgate started to shop the show around to major television networks as well as digital television distributors. Fans got behind the motion by using the hashtag, #BringBackNashville, throughout social media and even starting a petition on Change.org that garnered thousands upon thousands of signatures.

“The fans and everyone else is clamoring for many more seasons,” Kevin Beggs, Lionsgate’s head of TV, said in regards to Nashville’s future.

According to a report from Variety Thursday morning (May 26), executives at Lionsgate revealed that “four to five different platforms” have showed interest in taking the series into their own hands.

Lionsgate has even secured long-term deals with cast members to ensure that they will all be on board for Season 5 if deals come to pass. Showrunners for Season 5, Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz, were hired by Lionsgate as well, Beggs confirmed.

Fans and executives alike are hopeful for a future, even if it just means another new season.

“These kinds of shows can go forever and ever — obviously that’s our hope and expectation, but we’ve [got] to do it one season at a time. So right now, we’re all about Season 5,” Beggs said. “So we hope to land Season 5 and keep talking about this show for years to come.”
