March 24 will be a life-changing day for RaeLynn, who will release her long-awaited debut album, WildHorse, to the masses. The project has been a labor of love for the 22-year-old, who spent five years chronicling her journey as a teenager on The Voice to her present-day life onto the 12-track album.

While RaeLynn will be surrounded by friends and family leading up to the release, there is one person who will not be there to celebrate with her… her husband, Josh Davis. On Valentine’s Day, the Texas native revealed that Davis had enlisted in the military to serve his country. The decision to share this life update was a difficult one and something the “Love Triangle” struggled with for some time.

“At first I didn’t know if I wanted to share it. I thought that I was just not going to, but the more I thought about it… you know, everyone likes to speculate something’s happening. People wanna be like ‘oh, are they having marriage problems?’ and all of that,” she explained. “My husband does not like the limelight. He’s doing something honorable because he wants to do something honorable. He doesn’t want to get any recognition for it he just wants to do it. But I told him, ‘When you’re doing something so honorable, I want to tell people because I don’t want people to think that there’s something wrong with us when you’re doing something so noble.”

The couple had a long conversation about it and ultimately decided to share the news once he had left for training. Since leaving, time to chat has been few and far between, but Davis made sure to leave special messages for his wife as she embarks on a brand new journey.

“Josh knew that I was going to have all of these significant things happen and he wrote me all these letters before he left to basic training for me to open at certain times for encouragement for my record and for my single and that’s why I’m so thankful to be married to such a thoughtful person,” RaeLynn shared with Sounds Like Nashville. “… He put these little reminders everywhere so I always remember that he’s there and I think that that is so special. I miss him all the time but I know he’s doing what he loves and I’m super excited for him.”

While she still has a little longer than a month until she is reunited with her husband, RaeLynn is able to lean on her friends and family for support.

“I have the best friends and family. Josh’s sister is so funny. Her and Josh look the same in their eyes so when I miss Josh, she’ll like cover her face and goes ‘I’m Josh! Just look at my eyes!’ They’re all so sweet,” she said with a smile.

RaeLynn’s debut album WildHorse is set for release on Friday, March 24.
