When it came time to record their album, Rascal Flatts knew they wanted a fresh take on their classic sounds and iconic harmonies. Such a feat was captured on the group’s 10th studio album, aptly titled Back To Us.

After notching a No.1 with the lead single, “Yours If You Want It,” the trio is ready to hit country radio again with another smash. On deck is the title track, a song co-written by Cary Barlowe, David Hodges and Josh Thompson.

“We loved that song. It was one of the first ones we had cut for the album,” the band’s Gary LeVox told Sounds Like Nashville on a summer afternoon in Nashville. “It lived throughout the process of going out through there, and there was just a line in there, ‘back to us,’ and we just thought it encapsulated everything we were doing.”

As it had during the album process, “Back To Us” kept resurfacing whenever the group and their team went to look at any of the stats behind the project.

“We kind of looked at the way that things were trending with the record release. Songs that were streaming and all of the feedback that we were getting,” explained Joe Don Rooney at a press conference for their latest No.1. “We thought it was great segway into the next piece of the puzzle on what to put this whole thing together.”

It also doesn’t hurt that “people are streaming the crap out of it, so gotta give them what they want,” he concluded.

“Back To Us” is currently at country radio. Fans can get a glimpse of the track and many of the Flatts’ other hits when the trio takes over Las Vegas for their limited residency show called Rascal Flatts: Night to Shine, beginning October 6 at 8 p.m. PT. Tickets are on sale now.
