Burt Reynolds Dies at 82, Reba, Dolly and More React
Reynolds was 82 at the time of his passing.
Actor Burt Reynolds has passed away at the age of 82. The star of films like Boogie Nights and Smokey and the Bandit passed away from cardiopulmonary arrest on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Jupiter Medical Center, his manager, Erik Kritzer, told The Hollywood Reporter.
Reynolds was an acclaimed actor during the course of his multi-decade career, working alongside stars including Reba McEntire, Dolly Parton, Candice Bergen, Goldie Hawn and Julie Andrews.
McEntire, who c0-starred with Reynolds in the 1993 TV movie The Man From Left Field, shared her condolences on Twitter. “My good friend has started a new journey,” she wrote with a photo of the two. “Rest in my peace my friend. I’ll never forget the wonderful times we spent together. #BurtReynolds.”
Reynolds’ co-star in the 1982 smash The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Dolly Parton, also released a statement.
“Oh how sad I am today along with Burt‘s millions of fans around the world as we mourn one of our favorite leading men. I know we will always remember his funny laugh, that mischievous sparkle in his eyes, and his quirky sense of humor. You will always be my favorite sheriff, rest in peace my little buddy and I will always love you, Dolly.”
