It seems like it’s been a lifetime since the members of Reba’s band perished in a tragic plane crash 27 years ago. To the superstar singer, however, it feels like it was just yesterday that she learned the horrific news.

On the 27th anniversary of the accident that took the lives of those closest to her, Reba posted a tribute to her band with photos on Instagram, writing, “Friends forever. I know Suzy and Joe join me in saying we miss you guys and still love you with all our hearts! 27 year…seems like yesterday. #musicinheaven #lovealways,” complete with a heart emoji.

The group was killed on a flight in a small plane near the border of the United Stages and Mexico. On board was two jet-crew members and eight members of her crew, including her band and manager.

Reba visited the crash site in November 2015, just months ahead of the 25th anniversary. She shared a photo from her visit that showed her gazing out the window at the ground below.

“Today is the 25th anniversary of the airplane crash,” she wrote at the time. “I went back to San Diego Nov of last year and took a helicopter up to the crash site. I feel in my heart that they know we still miss them so much. My love and prayers to all the families and friends.”

Through it all, the redhead has leaned on her faith to guide her, even releasing a gospel album, Sing It Now: Songs of Faith & Hope, in 2017.
