Reba and Little Big Town evoked powerful emotions when they performed the poignant “Mary, Did You Know?” on the CMA Country Christmas television special. Combining the supreme harmonies of the quartet with the iconic vocals of the legendary songstress, the song was given a whole new life for this holiday season.

At the start of the song, Reba sang out the first lines by herself, before switching with LBT’s Kimberly Schlapman. The two then joined together, before Jimi Westbrook took the lead. As the performers reached the chorus, their five voices came together to sing, “Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? / And when you kiss your little baby, you have kissed the face of God.”

The performance wasn’t the first time Reba had performed the track written by Mark Lowry‎ and Buddy Greene.  She’d previously recorded the song back in 1999 as part of her The Secret of Giving Christmas album. Many other country stars have also followed suit and put their own spin on the classic track, including versions from Kenny Rogers, Wynonna, Glen Campbell, Rascal Flatts, Scotty McCreery, The Oak Ridge Boys, among others.

Reba and Little Big Town were joined at CMA Country Christmas by Dan + ShayBrett EldredgeKelsea Ballerini, Dustin Lynch, Chris Young, Alan Jackson and more. CMA Country Christmas aired previously on Monday, Nov. 27 on ABC, but fans can catch it again when it re-airs on Thursday, December 21 at 9/8c.
