Reba: ‘The Divorce Was Not My Idea’

Reba has remained relatively quiet about her separation from Narvel Blackstock after the pair announced their divorce last summer. In December, she revealed that the divorce had been finalized on October 28, but other than that, they superstar has remained focused on her music and moving forward with her life and career.

In a recent interview with CMT’s Cody Alan, the Oklahoma native revealed that she did not want to get divorced and got quite candid about the aftermath of the split.

“The divorce was not my idea,” she told him. “I didn’t want it in any shape, form or fashion.”

“It was really hard to make the adjustment when someone’s not happy. I just want everybody to be happy in their lives because our lives are too short to be miserable,” added McEntire. “I just thought it was the best thing to take my marbles and go play somewhere else, is what Daddy used to always say.”

When asked how she’s been able to cope with such a big shake up in her personal life, Reba immediately credited her belief in God and the support she’s had from her friends and family.

“I prayed every day to help me have the strength to move one foot in front of the other to continue on with what I’m supposed to be doing and why he put me on this Earth in the first place,” she said.

“You’ve got to have a great team of people around you that you love and they love you and I’m very blessed to have those people and I thank God for it all.”
