Monday night’s broadcast of The Voice acted as the judge’s last chance to fill the remaining spots on their teams. Stakes were high as they blindly listened to each performer, being more selective than before due to a limited amount of openings they could offer to contestants.

Nashville was well represented on Monday’s show, with a Music City native taking the stage, along with more country music acts. Maye Thomas, who lives in Nashville and works at the popular downtown restaurant Whiskey Kitchen, auditioned with a quirky version of The Chainsmokers’ “Roses.” She ultimately decided to team up with coach Miley Cyrus. Shortly after obtaining Thomas, Team Miley claimed country singer Charity Bowden, who performed “Girl Crush.”

The first duo seen, hailing from sister act Shannon and Whitney, performed a rendition of “Landslide,” which they admitted was inspired from the Dixie Chicks’ version. Their amazing harmonies resulted in all four judges turning around.

“You sound so country, you just drew me in,” Blake Shelton said hoping they would join his team. After hearing all of the pleas, they decided to go with Team Alicia Keys.

To round out his team, Shelton asked pop singer Tarra Layne and professional songwriter Courtney Harrell to partner with him, which they happily obliged. The last spot on Team Blake went to singer/songwriter Blaine Long, even though both Cyrus and Adam Levine were pleading for him.

“I’m clearly the worst singer of the bunch,” Shelton said referencing his fellow judges. “But songs and songwriting is what keeps me around.”

With the blind auditions complete, the next step before the live shows is the battle rounds, which will air next Monday and Tuesday at 8 PM EST on NBC.
