The Voice competition was fierce in the second round of knockouts during Tuesday (Oct. 26) night’s broadcast. Emotions ran high as contestants were given the chance to stand in their own spotlight and sing for their coach’s approval. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill stuck around for another episode as mentors to share their performance knowledge with the competition hopefuls, and everyone was better for it.

Coach Blake Shelton had a near impossible decision to make when soul singers Bindi Liebowitz and Courtney Harrell went up against each other. Harrell channeled her inner Tina Turner and sang her heart out to “River Deep, Mountain High.” Judge’s commented that she exploded with fire, talent and passion during her performance. Her voice was so full and perfectly executed every note.

“You should never be singing behind anyone ever again,” Miley Cyrus said of the professional songwriter and back-up vocalist.

Liebowitz delivered a sultry rendition of Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man.” Her voice showed strength and gravel, but Blake Shelton couldn’t afford to lose Harrell. Liebowitz was sent home and Harrell will continue onto the live performances.

Former child-country star Billy Gilman braved The Voice stage on Tuesday’s episode where he sang Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song.” It was obvious he believed what he was singing in the inspirational anthem, and his passion was strong enough to beat fellow contestant Ponciano Seoane to continue onto the next round.

The Voice knockout rounds will continue next Monday at 8 PM ET on NBC.
