‘Road Less Traveled’ Starring Lauren Alaina to Make Television Premiere on CMT
Lauren Alaina is about to become known as a big-time movie actress with the television premiere of her first-ever feature film, Road Less Traveled, coming to CMT in November.
Although Alaina isn’t a stranger to the world of television, having appeared on the tenth season of American Idol, Road Less Traveled marks her first breakout into the acting world and will finally air to the masses this fall on CMT. Playing the role of Charlotte, Alaina goes back to her hometown of Harmony, Tennessee, with plans to continue her successful songwriting career and upcoming wedding arrangements when she questions her intentions due to seeing her first love.
Alaina may not completely relate to her exact role in the film, but she still clicked with the concept of being from a small town and following your heart to your dreams no matter the circumstances surrounding her.
“She’s kind of like me, but not like me, which helped because I don’t know how I would’ve done with a role where I’m supposed to be like a British woman married with kids. I loved it and I think it’s a way for me to be able to entertain and to tie in the music. It really worked out well that we were able to do the music with the movie as well, so it’s cool,” Alaina told Sounds Like Nashville and other media about her character at a past event.
The “Doin’ Fine” singer plans to continue her shot at acting while balancing her music career, and Road Less Traveled was a way to dip her toe into the Hollywood water for experience.
“It just showed me that also pushing yourself is a good thing because I’ve never really acted and in my first acting job I was the lead actress in a movie which was pretty intense but it was fun and I did it. I had a great group of actors around me that helped me to be better,” she said previously.
Road Less Traveled will make its debut on the small screen on Friday, November 10, at 10 p.m. ET on CMT.
