It’s almost been a year since Joey Feek sadly passed away from cancer, but her memory lives on through the music she made with her husband as they were honored with a win at the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards on Sunday night (Feb. 12).

Taking home the trophy in the category of Best Roots Gospel Album for their project, Hymns That Are Important to Us, Rory Feek became emotional about the win during his speech in which he dedicated the recognition to his late wife for her love and devotion to their music.

“My wife’s dream was to make a hymns album,” Feek stated from the stage. “So she sang her vocals in hotel rooms while she did chemo and radiation.”

The married pair was previously nominated in the same category last year, but did not win the title for their prior work. Marking their seventh and final album together, the importance toward the award was even more meaningful for Feek and the passion he has for his late wife.

“Remember, if we win, I’ll know before you will,” Feek remembered his wife telling him months ago if they were to be nominated yet again for a GRAMMY Award.

Feek is set to release an autobiography called This Life I Live tomorrow, February 14.
