Rory Feek Will Help Joey ‘Live On’ Through Full-Length Documentary

"Joey didn’t live to see her 41st birthday, but this September, just a week or so after her birthday on the 9th… my wife will get the chance to live again," Rory wrote.

Yesterday, June 15, Rory Feek woke up on his farm, packed up a thermos and two coffee cups, and walked to the corner of his property where his wife Joey was laid to rest. There, by the wooden cross that bares her name, he shared a cup of coffee and conversation with his bride on their wedding anniversary.

While Joey was not there physically, Rory spoke to her like her often does, but this time it was different. For the first time ever, he cried beside her grave. The singer/songwriter shared the sweet story with fans in a new blog post on ThisLifeILive.com.

Tears flooded his eyes after giving Joey the ultimate anniversary present: showing her his plans to carry out one of her final wishes, “to live on, even after she’s gone.” At Joey’s graveside he played the trailer for an upcoming full-length documentary that follows the couple’s story from just before they welcomed their daughter Indiana into the world until this past spring when Joey lost her battle with cancer.

Rory describes the film as “a film about our lives during that two-and-a-half years. Our love. Our struggles. And even more so, about our faith in God and our hope in a plan… bigger than the one we can see with our own eyes.”

The film will make its debut this fall in theaters for one night only (more info on that HERE), but fans can catch a sneak peek in the trailer above.

“Joey didn’t live to see her 41st birthday, but this September, just a week or so after her birthday on the 9th… my wife will get the chance to live again,” Rory wrote. “On a movie screen, her heart will start beating and her story will come to life once more and it will be my gift to her. And to our girls. And to our friends and family and all who loved her.”

Rory said he looks forward to seeing his wife’s story “unfold in real time” as he and the folks at Provident Films piece the film together. Read his latest blog post in its entirety HERE.
