Runaway June Hopes ‘Wild West’ Inspires Men to Step Up Their Chivalry

“It's cool too, to have a song that the guys like cause it's kind of like a song that's just like calling dudes to be John Wayne or like be that cowboy or that strong man," Hannah Mulholland of the trio said.

While the ‘Wild West’ typically involves the battles between outlaws and cowboys, Runaway June looked at the historical era as a time of bravery and strong men.

Bringing that inspiration to their latest single, the women of the group hoped for the romantic lyrics to ignite a sense of politeness and chivalry with men nowadays. Looking at an icon like John Wayne and boosting up his respected persona, they want their song to make men step up to the plate when it comes to treating a lady right.

“It’s cool too, to have a song that the guys like cause it’s kind of like a song that’s just like calling dudes to be John Wayne or like be that cowboy or that strong man. And especially in a world where like there’s a lot of men getting slapped down, some rightfully so,” Hannah Mulholland of the group explained to Sounds Like Nashville.

Of course, Runaway June doesn’t look at ‘Wild West’ as a shaming toward all guys but rather an invitation to become better in their ways and honor the traditions of love from years ago.

“But there’s so many good guys out there too, you know, so it’s just one of those songs that’s all inclusive where we’re excited to have it,” Mulholland said.

“Wild West” is out everywhere now.
