Russell Dickerson started believing in a big dream more than eight years ago, and that dream finally came true when he earned his first No. 1 on country radio with “Yours.”

Although Dickerson may seem like a newcomer among his country colleagues, the singer has been working his way around the Nashville music industry for quite some time now. Penning “Yours” a whopping four years ago, he has now conquered the Billboard Country Airplay chart with his romantic ode.

“I started chasing this dream with all I had in 2010. I basically wrote songs every day and toured every weekend in a 2004 Nissan Armada. I didn’t want to do anything else. I didn’t want money I just wanted chase down a dream and make it come true. Then EXACTLY 4 YEARS AGO this week in January, 2014 we wrote ‘Yours’ and I knew that was it. This was the song that kept me going. NO MATTER HOW LONG IT TOOK I was going to fight for this song because I’ve never believed in a song more than YOURS! Now as of last night at midnight I OFFICIALLY HAVE MY FIRST OFFICIAL BILLBOARD NUMBER ONE SINGLE! I love every single one of you sorry for the novel but I BEEN WAITIN 8 YEARS TO POST THIS,” Dickerson exclaimed via social media.

Thanks to the inspiration driven by his wife, Dickerson admired her constant support throughout his journey to the top and sent grateful messages to his team over the huge life-changing accolade.

@kaileydickerson you inspired this song and you still inspire me every single day. You honestly do make me better than I was before. My Family! Y’all have supported me since day one! MY TEAM, who has believed in me for 8 years! Dennis Ent., Oneil H, CAA, Triple Tigers, 30 Tigers, All the amazing writers, my band and crew and MY RD FAM! Could not do a single thing without y’all listening! And COUNTRY RADIO! WE JUST GETTING STARTED BABY! What a way to kick off 2018! ❤️ -RD,” he finished.

It looks to be a great year for Dickerson coming up in the calendar as well, booking opening act slots on both Thomas Rhett’s Life Changes Tour in the spring and Lady Antebellum’s co-headlining gig with Darius Rucker for the summer.
