While he may not be a nominee this year, Sam Hunt had the audience on its feet and rocking throughout his performance of “Body Like A Back Road” on the 2017 Billboard Music Awards. The Georgia native hit the stage in a black tee-shirt and green slacks as he represented country music during the all-genre celebration.

The performance is the second time Hunt has played the song during a live broadcast, having performed the three-week chart-topped at the recent Academy of Country Music Awards, where he included his fiancee-now-wife Hannah Lee Fowler in the set.

The track raced to No.1 in 12 weeks and stayed in the No.1 spot on the Billboard Country Airplay chart for three consecutive weeks.

“I can’t say that I expected for it to do as well as it has done,” said Hunt of the tune. “If you listen to the first record, you can see how I fit into that song, but also it’s different. It’s not like anything from the first record, so it was cool to go out on a limb a little bit, but to have the fans of the first record get on board. So, that was cool. But yeah, the success that it’s had has just been awesome.”

“Body Like A Back Road” is the lead single from Sam Hunt’s forthcoming, yet-to-be-announced sophomore project. The singer will take the tune out on the road for his upcoming 15 in a 30 Tour, which kicks off June 1 in Cleveland, OH.
