Sam Hunt Drives Into No. 1 Hit with ‘Body Like a Back Road’

Sam Hunt has a lot to celebrate these days as he’s not only a newlywed, but he’s also scored himself another No. 1 hit with his current single, “Body Like a Back Road.”
The upbeat jam rose its way to the top fairly quickly, reaching the No. 1 position on the Billboard Country Airplay Charter after just 12 weeks of radio airplay. Written by Hunt, Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne, the summertime song gives off all the good vibes as well as a sneak peek of what’s to come on Hunt’s anticipated sophomore release.
Making country music history just after its release, “Body Like a Back Road” shot straight to the highest spot on the digital sales chart and garnered millions of streams within just a few weeks. For Hunt though, the song merely started off as a cool song title that he planned to play around with and ultimately landed on a nonchalant love song with a groovy hook that he found fun.
“I try to think of titles or lines that’ll cross my mind and I’ll put ‘em in my phone, and this was one that I wanted to write for a while – the title ‘Body Like a Back Road’ – or use it as a lyric, do something with it. I didn’t have a melody, but one night this melody got stuck in my head and the phrase ‘Body Like a Back Road’ sang perfectly to it and the chorus came out pretty quick. And then we went in and started working on the song with the producer and a couple of writing buddies, and I wanted to write it because I thought it was a fun song,” Hunt said recently.
“Body Like a Back Road” also mirrors the good times going on in Hunt’s personal life, as many fans have concluded that the track resembles the devotion that the country singer has to his brand new bride, Hannah Lee Fowler. The two just recently tied the knot back in Hunt’s hometown during an intimate ceremony with their closest friends and family in attendance.
