October 2014 will mark four years since Sam Hunt made a huge splash in the country music scene with his debut studio album Montevallo. Since then, fans have been anxiously awaiting its follow-up, one that Hunt is still working on.

Though several singles have trickled out since then, the singer isn’t quite sure when a full project will see the light of day, as other opportunities keep arising during the interim.

“I keep saying that I’m gonna carve out sounds and get home and really devote my time and energy to create an album, but I feel like I’m just sort of getting by by the skin of my teeth the past couple years, so I’m just scraping up bits and pieces of songs that I’ve got started and trying to put those out as I go and continue to tour. But I do think, you know I said this last year, I didn’t plan on touring this summer, but an opportunity came up to go out with Luke Bryan and I couldn’t pass it up, it was such a great opportunity,” Hunt explained.

While touring with one of country’s biggest superstars was an opportunity he couldn’t say no to, the Georgia native is hoping that the fall will be a good time to hit the studio and finally create the album his fans have been waiting for.

“But this, the end of the summer/fall, I think I’m gonna be able to, hopefully, sink my teeth into a project and have some music ready to go before too long after that,” he admitted.

In the meantime, fans can listen to his latest release, “Downtown’s Dead,” and hear some unreleased songs when they catch him on tour.
