Although every female country fan got their heart broken by the news that Sam Hunt was officially off the market, they still kept the hopeless romantic side of wanting to know every detail of how the proposal happened. Hunt is easing the minds of many by spilling the beans on what really went down when he got down on one knee.

Announcing his engagement to fiancée, Hannah Lee Fowler, back at the beginning of the New Year, Hunt kept rather quiet about the whole celebration and left fans wondering when the moment happened. But as he came to talk about releasing his first single, “Body Like a Back Road,” from his upcoming sophomore album, the country singer let fans in on the extraordinary proposal that happened while visiting the Sea of Galilee on his trip to Israel.

“[The engagement] was exciting, I thought it was going to be a cinch when I got the ring, put it in my pocket the day I planned on asking her to marry me. Once you have the ring in your pocket and the clock is ticking, you know, you could do it at any moment, it becomes a bigger deal than you think. It worked out perfectly. We took a trip over to Israel, and we were traveling and visiting all these really cool places and learning about that part of the world. There were a lot of places we were visiting that were, I don’t know, really spiritual and it really connected us in a deeper spiritual way,” he dished during a radio interview with Nash Country Daily.

Admitting like many men before him how nervous he was due to the fact that the couple got into a minor tiff before he popped the question, he confirmed that he and Fowler are on the same page toward their relationship and that the commitment remains strong between one another.

“I was pretty sure she was going to say yes, but I wanted her to say yes without any reservation,” said Hunt. “I’m not 100 percent sure she didn’t have any reservation. It was a big moment for her. She’s all in. She’s 100 percent committed and I am too.”

His new song, “Body Like a Back Road,” was written after the engagement by Hunt, Zach Crowell, Shane McAnally and Josh Osborne to pick up where he left off with his debut album, Montevallo. The single will be released everywhere on Wednesday, February 1.
