Sara Evans wanted girl power and family to embody her next project, so she combined the two for a power package on her upcoming release, Words.

Compiled of 14 meaningful songs that relate back to love, life and strength, Evans captures her personal journey on the Born to Fly Records album. The country singer asked for the help of 14 female songwriters to represent the messages she dreamed about, and connects to the record more than any of her previous releases.

“When I’m listening to a song, it’s the lyrics and the stories they tell that matter most to me,” Evans explained previously about the record. “Not only is ‘Words’ the title to one of the songs on my album but in listening to new music for the record, I was always looking for lyrics that moved me and expressed a powerful range of emotions. Women are natural storytellers and I’m proud to have so many amazing female songwriters represented on this record.”

Evans also got her family on board to pull their weight by adding some background vocals on a couple of the tracks. Her teenage daughter, Olivia, contributed her voice to the likings of the lead single, “Marquee Sign,” while Evans’ siblings, Matt Evans, Lesley Evans Lyons and Ashley Evans Simpson, team up for some killer harmonies behind “Night Light.”

The country singer even chronicled her deepest feelings about her son’s senior year of high school in the song, “Letting You Go.” Like any mother, Evans expresses her nervousness and confidence simultaneously in the tune.

Words will be released on July 21.
