From the hiking journey through the forested hills to the breathtaking view of the mountains as he got down on one knee, McCreery covers it all in lyric form almost as if people were there watching the romantic gesture go down.

Rather than let the story unfold time and time again through word of mouth, Scotty McCreery decided to put the tale to song in order to relive his engagement in “This Is It.”

McCreery wanted to make his upcoming album all about the personal parts of his life, from the passing of his grandfather to falling even more in love with his girl. After popping the question to Gabi Dugal just a few short months ago, the two took the next step in their relationship and never looked back.

As listeners will hear once “This Is It” comes on, McCreery chronicles the real-life events that led up to the proposal throughout each lyric. From the hiking journey through the tree-filled forest to the breathtaking view of the mountains as he got down on one knee, the country singer covers it all almost as if people were there watching the romantic gesture happen in real time.

“This is It” marks the second single from McCreery’s soon-to-be-released album, in which the North Carolina native became vulnerable in each of the 11 tracks because he penned a piece of every song. Using the recording process as somewhat of an audible scrapbook of his recent years, McCreery knows this upcoming project will be special in his career and his life.

“For the first time, I wrote all the songs on my album,” McCreery shared in a recent press release. “It’s kind of my journal of the last few years: the ups and the downs. Whenever I think things are not going well, I’ve learned to just wait it out because the seasons change. If you want to know who I am and where I’m at right now, listen to this album. I feel like I’m having a conversation with everyone that listens. It’s that personal.”

Fans can listen to “This Is It” on Spotify now. McCreery’s upcoming album, Seasons Change, will come out on Friday, March 16.
