Shania Twain ‘Feeling The Love’ Over Comeback, Performs on ‘Today’

"I didn’t realize how appreciated I was. Honestly, I think distance makes the heart grow fonder. And it works both ways—I really missed the fans and I’m loving just being with them again," she admitted on the morning talk show.

It may have been 15 years since Shania Twain put out a brand new set of songs, but it’s true to be said that the country icon is back and better than ever.

To solidify another step in her comeback, Twain appeared on the Today show on Friday (6/16) to perform during the Citi Concert Series held on the Plaza throughout the summer, as well as chat it up about her new music and new spirit.

Acknowledging the mutual support between Twain and the fans, she realized how close of a bond that her listeners formed to her famed career and she feels honored to have retained that respect for so many years.

“You know what? I’m really feeling the love! I didn’t realize how appreciated I was. Honestly, I think distance makes the heart grow fonder. And it works both ways—I really missed the fans and I’m loving just being with them again and feeling the whole joy of everything,” Twain told the Today show hosts.

Twain also explained the nature of her upcoming record, Now, and how her treacherous journey led her to create such an honest and vulnerable project while remaining true to her pop-country sounds.

“I’m a go-getter. I’m a fighter. I have a lot of determination in me and I’m fiercely independent and that’s what motivates me, challenge. Facing my fears and of course, it was scary coming out again after so many years and writing the whole album alone, which I did on purpose to push myself and really find and rediscover myself as a songwriter ‘cause that’s really at the base of everything,” Twain explained.

Relating “Life’s About to Get Good,” which is the first single off the album, as the “euphoric feeling that we get when you realize there really is a light at the end of the tunnel,” Twain can’t wait for fans to dive even deeper into the new work she’s spent quite some time making in the very near future.

Twain then performed iconic hits from her catalogue including “That Don’t Impress Me Much” and “Man, I Feel Like a Woman,” as well as debuting some new tracks like “Life’s About to Get Good” and “Swinging With My Eyes Closed” during the Citi Concert Series performance on the morning talk show.

Her first record in 15 years, Now, is due out on September 29. Fans can keep their awaiting minds at bay though by purchasing or streaming Shania Twain’s current single, “Life’s About to Get Good,” at this time.
