2016 certainly is Shania Twain’s year! Just days after the iconic singer was honored with the CMT Artist of the Year’s Artist of a Lifetime Award, she has been named the recipient of the 2016 Women in Music “Icon” award at this year’s 11th annual Women in Music event.

“Shania Twain is a groundbreaking artist whose successful country-pop crossover blazed the trail for a new generation of country stars like Taylor Swift, Billboard’s 2014 Woman of the Year, and Carrie Underwood,” said Janice Min, president and chief creative officer of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group. “She’s fearless in her career, following her own path and pushing the boundaries of the country music genre as she creates music that has proven to be timeless. She is revered in the industry and we are honored to present the Icon award to her.”

The Icon Award goes to an artist whose contributions to the American music industry establish them among the highest group of performers. Twain is just the second artist to receive the coveted award after Aretha Franklin in 2014.

Twain isn’t the only country artist to be recognized at Billboard’s Women In Music ceremony. Loretta Lynn and Kelsea Ballerini were honored in 2015 with the Legend Award and Rising Star Award, respectively. Reba and Taylor Swift were also recognized as Woman of the Year, with Reba as the inaugural winner in 2007 and Swift honored in both 2011 and 2014.

The event, put on by Billboard, will take place on December 9 in New York City and will air nationally on Lifetime on December 12. Additional honorees will be announced in the coming weeks.
