Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney Excited To Continue ‘Weird’ Christmas Tradition with His Son
“It is exciting to think about the new traditions that I'll have now having Asher," the proud father shares.
Family traditions are wildly important to those who have them and for Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney, those special memories are ones he’ll always treasure. While he keeps special moments from the past close to his heart, the singer and his wife Hannah are also excited to start their own traditions with their son, Asher.
“It is exciting to think about the new traditions that I’ll have now having Asher. I remember last Christmas, obviously he wasn’t born yet. He was born in January, but I remember Hannah and I kind of talking about different traditions and things that we can do, but one thing that Hannah and I have started to do, we’ve been collecting ornaments,” the singer explained to Sounds Like Nashville and other media recently. “Every place that we go, if we’re together we’ll buy an ornament and I think we have a lot of ornaments now. It’s great.”
The only caveat for their tradition is that the more outrageous the ornament, the better.
“We have a pineapple. They have to be really weird ones,” he continued. “One’s a pickle. We have some weird stuff. We’re collecting interesting ornaments from our travels. So, that’ll be a cool thing to do with Asher whenever he gets old enough to be able to pick his own ornament. It’s gonna be good times.”
Christmas 2017 will be Mooney’s first as a father as Asher was born just weeks after Christmas last year. The family will celebrate the season with some well-deserved time off the road.
