The gray carpet was all a buzz of excitement, so Stephanie Quayle made the most of the country happiness by hosting the pre-show coverage for Sounds Like Nashville just hours before the 2018 CMT Music Awards ceremony.

Just like any hostess should do, Quayle welcomed in her variety of guests with a simple acknowledgement toward how each of them were doing. While some kept it real with a simple ‘good,’ others used the time as a therapeutic release to reveal all their deepest feelings.

“Well, my personal life is in shambles. I’m 38, no kids, live alone,” radio host Bobby Bones spilled to Quayle in a sarcastic yet sad tone.

The SLN host also inquired to a few of her friends about who they were looking forward to seeing during the performance portions of the evening. Natalie Stovall gushed about her obsession with Little Big Town, while Dee Jay Silver gave Carrie Underwood his stamp of approval.

It was Tara Thompson, though, that summed up the overall concurrence regarding the Backstreet Boys appearance by spilling that she used to own one of their posters as a girl and her mom dishing that it hung right above her bed on the ceiling.

Playing a game version of superlatives, Quayle asked everyone about who wins the awards that pertain to other things besides the CMT celebration. Sandra Lynn crowned Kelsea Ballerini and Faith Hill with best legs, and A.J. McLean from BSB bowed down to Chris Stapleton for his beard-growing skills.

Joel McHale took the lead on the hilarious send-off, in which he and Quayle bantered over a variety of topics before settling down just enough to wave goodbye to all the fans watching at home.

The 2018 CMT Music Awards were hosted by Little Big Town, and aired live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
