Ed Sheeran has made quite the name for himself in the music industry in recent years. The redheaded British singer, who is known for hits like “A Team” and “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You,” is quickly becoming a household name in the U.S., thanks to a slot on Taylor Swift’s Red Tour.

With a successful debut album under his belt, Sheeran is now considering taking a new music route. He recently opened up to Yahoo! Music about his admiration for country music. “There’s so much good country music out there,” he said.

The “You Need Me, I Don’t Need You” singer told Yahoo! that he’s not ruling out the possibility of making a country album in the future. “Country music is some of the best-written music in the world, so yeah, one day, I would keep my mind open to doing a country record,” he said. “Hunter Hayes has some sick music.”

The move to country music seems like a natural transition following Sheeran’s “Everything Has Changed” duet with Swift on her Red album.

In the meantime, Sheeran is sticking to what he knows best. He’s currently working on the follow-up to his debut album, +. Fans can expect the album in 2014.
