The Ladies of Runaway June Reveal Their Festival Favorites

With festival season upon us, the ladies of Runaway June are packing up their bags to endure the great outdoors throughout the summer months.
Never leaving an essential behind, the ladies of the trio have learned the do’s and do not’s of playing shows outside and make sure their favorite items are stored for the long haul. While the perfect outfit and great shoes are a must as always, it’s the little things that get them by weekend after weekend.
“I’m a ChapStick must-have everywhere I go. But especially outdoors kind of stuff, I’m reapplying ChapStick all day. So as a festival-goer or player, ChapStick,” Hannah Mulholland told Sounds Like Nashville exclusively.
Jennifer Wayne curtly gave her response as a nod to some liquid courage to either muster up the excitement to perform or a way to wind down after a long day on the job.
“I’m gonna say wine. I need my wine everywhere! If we’re in a place where there is no liquor store, I’m gonna bring it with me,” admitted Wayne.
For Naomi Cooke, it’s all about the H₂O to keep her healthy and focused for an awesome vocal performance every time.
“I am one of those people who is thirsty all the time,” explained Cooke to SLN. “No matter what, like I was born thirsty. So I like to have lots of water and Emergen-C to stay hydrated. Some of the festivals we played last year, it was so ungodly hot! And then you’re on stage and you’re moving and sometimes the sun—it’s just the time of day—it’s just beating on you. So stay hydrated, folks!”
But all of the girls did agree on one necessity they tend to forget until they hit the stage: hair ties to hold back their long locks.
“Ponytail holder! We’re always asking each other when we do our hair and then we go up and we play and go, ‘Ah, we need to put our hair up,’” Wayne added.
