‘The Voice’ Recap: Season 10 Kicks Off With Blind Auditions

The 10th season of The Voice kicked off Monday night with some fierce competition. Coaches Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Pharrell were all ready to battle for the best singers during the first round of blind auditions.

In the premiere episode, Shelton scored his first two ‘Team Blake’ contestants, Paxton Ingram and Mary Sarah.

Ingram got the Oklahoma native to quickly turn around when he kicked things off with Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own.” Levine and Pharrell were also quick to hit their buttons and turn. Although the two had convincing arguments, it was Shelton saying he recognized “true greatness” that won Ingram over.

Traditional country singer Mary Sarah made her way to the stage with her version of Connie Francis’ “Where The Boys Are.” All four coaches turned around, making the hopeful’s decision all the more difficult. While Pharrell said it was “classic,” and Aguilera called it “undeniable,” Mary Sarah couldn’t deny her country roots and a promise to hit the Grand Ole Opry stage when she chose Team Blake.

Another notable performance was former child star Alisan Porter, who is most famous for her starring role in Curly Sue. After battling addiction with drugs and alcohol, she sobered up, got married and had children. Porter earned a four-chair turn with her rendition of Linda Ronstadt’s “Blue Bayou” and ultimately chose Aguilera as her coach.

The blind auditions continue tonight at 8/7c on NBC.
