Last night’s episode of NBC’s The Voice was certainly one to remember. During the two hour episode, the Top 9 finalists each performed, as well as coach Blake Shelton, who debuted “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” his duet with girlfriend Gwen Stefani. Florida Georgia Line also joined in with a performance of their latest single “H.O.L.Y.”

Paxton Ingram was first up at the plate for Team Blake. He sang an acoustic version of Whitney Houston‘s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me).”

An impressed Christina Aguilera praised Ingram’s passion in his performances. “You put your heart and soul into everything you do.  It was nothing like I ever heard that song done. It was the most rejoice-ful version I have ever heard,” she said. Coaches Pharrell and Adam Levine couldn’t agree more, adding that they loved his optimism and infectiousness.

Following Ingram’s performance was Mary Sarah, who sang Maren Morris’ “My Church,” blending her traditional and contemporary sound.  “I am going to start by saying Blake’s note on losing the guitar was good because it gave you more room to emote,” expressed Pharrell. “I think that performance is probably your best connection to a song. It seemed like your record.” Levine agreed and said that she had found her lane.

Last up for Team Blake was Adam Wakefield, who dedicated his performance of Bonnie Raitt’s “Love Has No Pride” to his mom. Aguilera praised his fiery performance and admitted to having a dream about him. His proud coach beamed stating that it was his best performance yet.
