Thomas Rhett and Lauren Welcome Baby Girl, Ada James

There’s a new ‘Star of the Show’ in town!

Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren, welcomed their baby girl into the world on Saturday evening (Aug 12) at 10:28 pm. After 36 hours of labor, both Mama and daughter are doing just fine following the delivery.

The singer/songwriter shared the news via Instagram on Sunday.

“Last night at 10:28 PM Ada James Akins was born and it was truly the most amazing thing I have ever experienced,” Rhett wrote. “I can’t believe that we have two daughters!! My wife @laur_akins labored almost 36 hours😳She is by far the strongest human being I have ever met and I have a new found respect for moms around the world. We are so excited that Willa Gray has a baby sister! Thank you Lord and everyone for the prayers🙌🏼 #outnumbered

Thomas and Lauren live the real-life fairytale as they met back in their primary school days in sixth grade. The two grew up with each other, finally dating once they reached their later teen years in high school. Although their romance seemed to be fate, the two broke up and almost married other people during their time in college.

Thankfully after Lauren’s father bravely swept in to make for a happily ever after between the two, they got back together and wed on October 12, 2012 after six whirlwind months of dating. Rhett’s career blew up in the country scene quickly following the marriage and Lauren followed him along in the journey together. From starring in music videos together to working it on red carpets galore, they’ve become one of country music’s favorite couples.

In February of 2017, the couple announced via Instagram that they were not only expecting a child of their own but also adopting a little one from Africa. After trying to get pregnant for a while, Thomas and Lauren felt called to adopt their now daughter, Willa Gray, after spending time with her during a trip overseas to support 143 Million Orphans. They brought Willa home back in May and the pair have adapted to parenthood quite well, traveling together on tour and learning all the comforts of home.

Congratulations to the happy couple on their new addition to the Rhett family and to Willa for officially becoming a big sister!
